Academic Clinical PathologistAssistant/Associate Professor


The UC Davis Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is seeking dynamic academic clinical pathologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical (X) or the Health Sciences Clinical Series. Clinical duties will be chiefly in clinical chemistry, including subspecialties such as special chemistry and toxicology. Additional duties will also include point-of-care testing and clinical informatics. Teaching duties may include clinical, didactic, and small group teaching of house staff and medical students, interdisciplinary conferences to house staff and faculty, and curriculum development in subspecialty areas. At least one year of experience teaching undergraduates, graduate students, medical students, or house staff is recommended. Participation in the research mission of the institution is also expected, either as a collaborator or as the intellectual leader of clinically-oriented research projects pertinent to the candidate's areas of expertise and subspecialty training, depending on academic series chosen for appointment. The ability to maintain a high level of service, work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain excellent relationships with medical and technical staff, trainees, and others are required.

The successful candidate must have a MD or MD/PhD, and be board-eligible or certified in clinical pathology, or for PhD candidates, be board-eligible or certified in clinical chemistry (e.g., ABCC, ABB, ASCP, or NRCC). The candidate must have qualifications to meet requirements for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in one of the University of California's clinically-intensive academic series [Clinical (X) or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series]. They must have also completed sub-specialty fellowship training by July 1, 2021. A sub-specialty focus in clinical informatics, is also required. Other desirable qualifications include training and expertise in, molecular pathology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and/or quality improvement.
A California professional license or eligibility for licensure in California is required.
