Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Computing and Data Science

Thriving university in robust Southwest Florida seeks dynamic computing and data science faculty
Seven faculty positions available.

FGCU seeks candidates for seven positions with expertise in cross-disciplinary curricula and research. Successful candidates will have opportunities to collaborate with faculty in disciplines such as computer information systems, engineering, entrepreneurship, education, environment, health sciences, mathematics, business and statistics.

The primary appointment will be in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering with the possibility of joint appointment with other schools and colleges at FGCU. Areas of emphasis include the following:

Cybersecurity (CCDS-01) – expertise required in the theoretical and empirical investigations of algorithms, processes, methods, tools and techniques.
Data Analytics and FinTech (CCDS-02) – expertise in analytics and financial technology (FinTech), as well as other disciplines in the Lutgert College of Business.
Biomedical Computing/Health Informatics (CCDS-03) – expertise required in applications of computational technologies to biomedical studies that relate to the understanding of health and disease and/or address the challenges of analyzing and integrating datasets of diverse data types.
Computational Statistics (CCDS-04) – expertise in one or more fields of applied statistics such as bioinformatics, chemometrics, computational genomics, gene expression analysis, gene regulation networks and statistical mechanics.
Hydroinformatics (CCDS-05) – expertise centered in data science with a focus on problems in the coastal, environmental or climate sciences.
Computer Science or Engineering Education and Technology (CCDS-06)
– expertise in computer science education, engineering education, learning science, instruction design and/or educational technology.
Entrepreneurship of Advanced Technologies (CCDS-07) – expertise in developing technology-centric courses (including digital media design) and performing research in topics related to the cluster, specifically in the context of startup companies.

Candidates must specify desired rank (assistant, associate or full professor) and the areas for which they would like to be considered in the cover letter by stating the appropriate code (CCDS-01 to CCDS-07). Candidates may have partial teaching, research and/or service assignment in other FGCU schools and colleges: Lutgert College of Business, Marieb College of Health & Human Services, The Water School, Daveler & Kauanui School of Entrepreneurship, College of Arts & Sciences and College of Education.

Successful candidates will teach, conduct research, be involved in course and/or curriculum development, take part in college and university committees and engage in community service. There will be opportunities to discuss the proportion of teaching, research and service loads in secondary units. Candidates are expected to develop or grow educational and research programs with the cluster's scope.

Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering/Computer Science Education, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
