Position description

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (https://cmm.ucsd.edu) and the Department of Physics (http://physics.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body at the University of California, San Diego invite applications for a jointly appointed tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor) from outstanding candidates with demonstrated expertise in applying physical/quantitative reasoning along with cutting-edge instrumentation and analysis to the investigation of fundamental biological processes. Potential research areas include but are not limited to: molecular and biophysical tool development including advanced imaging modalities, biophysics addressing questions at and above the cellular scale, and molecular and single-molecule biophysics. Approaches rooted in physical sciences taken by the candidate will have the potential to advance understanding of normal physiology and/or its relationship to disease.

The Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine, in the UC San Diego School of Medicine, and the Department of Physics, in the Division of Physical Sciences, are committed to building an excellent, diverse and inclusive faculty, staff and student body. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics, biophysics, or a related field and demonstrated potential for a recognized program of excellence in both teaching and research. Teaching in physics and related topics is expected.
Preferred qualifications

Preferably, the candidate will have skills and interest in teaching lab and lecture courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
