Basic Function

This is a professional expert, short term temporary hourly opportunity.
The Kern Community College District's is seeking Trainers / Instructors?with experience training Industrial Maintenance Technicians to teach in our program. Strong knowledge of industrial safety, power tools, technical drawings, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, Basic AC/DC electricity, Electric Motor Control, Mechanical Drives (belts, chains, gears), Pneumatics, PLC's and HMI's.

Representative Duties


Responsibilities

The role involves delivering comprehensive instruction in an Mechatronics and Robotics Apprenticeship program. Key responsibilities include:
  • Teaching the fundamentals of industrial electrical maintenance, ensuring trainees develop essential skills and knowledge.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes effective learning and student participation.
  • Delivering specialized instruction in any of the following areas: industrial electrical systems, electronics, process control, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors and motor control, blueprint reading, troubleshooting, and the use of electrical testing and measurement equipment.
  • Providing training relevant to the advanced manufacturing and distribution sectors and preparing students for real-world applications in these industries.
  • Developing and maintaining a program that meets the needs of new entrants to the field and helps current practitioners enhance their expertise.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into practical, accessible instruction for students at all experience levels.
  • Support training content development that serves both entry-level learners and working professionals seeking upskilling.
  • Staying up-to-date with advancements and trends in the industry to ensure instructional content remains current and relevant.


Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
  • At least five years of industry experience in Industrial Electrical work.
  • No prior teaching experience required; instructional training will be provided to help you transition your field expertise to classroom instruction.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • A demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in areas such as industrial electrical systems, electronics, PLCs, computers, process control, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Availability to work flexible hours to meet program needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills adaptable to students with diverse educational backgrounds.
  • Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) Silver or Gold Certified is desired but not required. All professional experts will be required to pass all silver and gold exams needed.
