University of California Santa Barbara
KITP Fellows

KITP's Fellows program supports a single long visit (6-8 weeks) from experimentalists, observers or theorists in physics or astronomy departments at teaching-intensive U.S. colleges or universities designated as Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs).
Applicants must be active ladder faculty (assistant, associate or full professors) at a non-R1 MSI with an undergraduate major in physics or astronomy.
Each KITP Fellow award will fund travel and local accommodation expenses for a single stay of 6-8 weeks, and, to allow the Fellows to be away for an extended period, a taxable stipend of $2,000/week (up to $16,000 total). Approximately 9 Fellows will be selected each year, with our first cohort present during the 2022-23 academic year.
Faculty interested in participating in this program in the approximate period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 can apply at www.kitp.ucsb.edu/apply/fellowships/kitp-fellows.
Applicants must upload the key materials needed for selection, which include a Curriculum Vitae, a 2-page proposal statement describing how the applicant would engage scientifically during their visit to the KITP, and at least one letter of support from a scientific colleague that specifically addresses the intent of their program application.
Examples of KITP Fellow's engagement include: attending a KITP program in their field of interest, coming to spend time interacting with a program outside of the faculty member's main line of research so as to establish a new research direction, or collaborating with KITP faculty or postdocs.
Application deadline: November 15, 2021.
All applicants will be notified of awards by February 1, 2022.
