The College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin invites qualified candidates to apply for an Open Rank position (tenured/tenure track) on the neurobiological impact of childhood adversity on development. We are interested in scholars who take a cross-disciplinary approach to the issue and are, therefore, open to a range of backgrounds, including: Clinical Psychology, Child Neuropsychology, Educational Psychology, Kinesiology and Health Education, or other, related fields with a child-centered, neuroscience approach.

The successful candidate will be joining UT Austin as part of the provost's Cluster and Interdisciplinary Hiring Initiative and will join an interdisciplinary group of scholars participating in the University's Bridging Barriers Grand Challenge initiative, Whole Communities - Whole Health. The candidate will have an appointment within the College of Education in the Department of Educational Psychology and/or Kinesiology and Health Education and will be expected to actively participate as a core member of Whole Communities-Whole Health. There will also be numerous opportunities to collaborate across campus, including Dell Medical School, the Department of Neuroscience, and with the UT School of Public Health. We welcome applications from candidates with the following required qualifications:

  1. Engagement in high-quality scholarship, with a focus on research that investigates the links between, and impacts of, early life (pediatric or childhood) environments and adversity, broadly defined, on typical and atypical neuropsychological development. This could include, but is not limited to, investigating the impact of adversity, created and/or exacerbated by social and structural forces that marginalize minority communities, on psychological or physical health.
  2. An earned doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Child Neuropsychology, Educational Psychology, Kinesiology and Health Education, Neuroscience, or related field(s).
  3. Record of scholarly excellence that is in alignment with appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels.
  4. Record of or potential for securing extramural research funding. Those applying at the Associate or Full Professor level would be required to show a history of funding that is in line with those appointments.
  5. Experience or capacity to teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds and advance the College's mission of equity and excellence.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong capacity for, and a commitment to, interdisciplinary approaches and collaborative research across disciplines within Computer Science, Education, Kinesiology and Health Education, Neuroscience, Psychology, and related fields. Preference will be given to applicants working with human subjects from diverse populations.
