Department Information

The Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (EEOB) has a strong commitment to ensuring all members of our community feel like they belong at Kennesaw State University. EEOB serves over 2,000 undergraduate majors earning the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and over 100 majors in Environmental Science. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time faculty positions in Biology in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology for the academic year 2023-2024 beginning in January 2024. These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Successful candidates will be expected to establish an inclusive teaching environment where all students feel like they belong and can be successful.

  • The primary responsibilities involve teaching undergraduate students in one or both of our introductory-level sequences. In the first instance, EEOB focuses on the second semester of a 2-semester sequence, called Principles of Biology II (lecture and laboratory, BIOL 1108 and 1108L). In the second instance, EEOB supports many KSU programs teaching our 2-semester Anatomy and Physiology sequence (lecture and laboratory, BIOL 2221 and 2221L and BIOL 2222 and 2222L).

  • An emphasis on active, inclusive, and experiential learning is important for engaging students in the learning process.

    Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

    Required Qualifications

    An earned Master's degree or Ph.D., or its foreign equivalent, in a biological science or closely related science discipline, with coursework relevant to biology and/or anatomy and physiology.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • A record of using evidence-based, inclusive teaching practices at the university level.

  • A record of teaching STEM and non-STEM majors.

  • A record of teaching anatomy and physiology or general biology courses.

  • A flexible schedule that can support teaching evenings.
